The curtain falls on Only The Barracudas €100,000 GTD and, after more than 10 years, the title passes into the hands of Alessandro Toninello.

Only The Barracudas saw 817 players compete for a total prize pool of €100,410. The return of the most “popular” tournament in these parts could only receive positive feedback and appreciation from the field, both for the playability of the tournament and for the extremely affordable buy-in of just €100.

Among the 817 participants, we cannot fail to mention Sacha Novitsky, Claudio “Swissy” Rinaldi, and Piero Valentini, who have occupied the tournament podium in recent editions of this historic event. Roberto “Babbai” Mazzaferro made a grand return, choosing to pick up the cards again during Barracudas after years of absence from the tables.

The hand that marked Alessandro Toninello’s tournament was against Andrea Zaccarelli for a pot of 8.5 million chips with 14 players left. UTG opened, Andrea completed the small blind (4-8 hearts) and Alessandro (A-2 hearts), the big blind, raised, finding Andrea’s call. On the turn, both players completed their flushes and Andrea was drawing dead, awarding Alessandro the pot that took him to over 10 million. In the next hand, Toninello pocketed AK and eliminated another player, reaching 13 million. The road to victory was now clear.

Among the winners of this tournament are big names such as Andrea D’Elia (15th), Salvatore Floridia (17th), and Marco Leigheb (25th), who finished in the second half of the paytable.
