Seventy-five players showed up at the start of Day 2A, and after six hours of play, 22 players had reached the pots, led by chip leader Gabriele Brambilla, who returns to the Final Day with 1,763,000 chips.
After less than two hours of play, Sacha Girimonte, who had started as the day’s chip leader with over 500,000 chips, was eliminated by Jacqueline Scagnelli, who also eliminated herself, whose top set on the flop caught Sacha with ace high. By dinner break, the field had already halved, with Celine Zimmermann and Andrea Zaccarelli establishing themselves as the deepest players with approximately 1 million chips each.
Many notables showed up on Day 2A in search of a spot in the Final Day, including Mario Perati, Sasha Novitsky, Alessandro Toninello, RinoRaise Sallustro, Giancarlo Borghi, and Vincenzo Scarpitti. Some of these players failed to reach the ITM and will try again to reach the top spot in the second half of the poker event. Emanuele Maestrini’s performance was incredible, having reached the ITM with a ticket won during one of the weekly La Notte di Mendrisio tournaments.
247 players filled the Admiral Poker Room tables in the first week of the Main Event. Of the 75 players who showed up on Day 2A, 22 advanced to the Final Day, guaranteeing themselves a €1,500 mini-money.
The second week of poker features two Super Sats with 20 guaranteed tickets each on Monday, September 15th and Tuesday, September 16th, with a buy-in of €100, and the final three qualifying flights with Day 1D, Day 1E, and Day 1F on September 17th, 18th, and 19th. Those who win tickets to the Super Sats will be able to choose between Day 1D or Day 1E. Qualifiers from the final three flights will meet on Saturday, September 20th at 4:00 PM for Day 2B. As with Day 2A, nine 40-minute levels will be played on Day 2B, and those who manage to bag them will meet on Sunday, September 21st at 2:00 PM with the 22 players who qualified for the Final Day by playing Day 2A.
