It totaled 250 entries the inauguration of the new Admiral Poker Room at the Casino di Mendrisio with a tournament, the First Night of Mendrisio, that had a guaranteed prize pool of 30,000 euros, widely broken through thanks to the 43,750 euros total prize pool. After 14 hours of play it was Francesco Cottone who took home the first prize of 10,000 euros against a buy-in of only 200 euros. In addition to the first place Francesco won the chance to fly to Tirana from June 14 to 24 and play the tournament of the year, namely the Night of Aces 2 million guaranteed. The package includes flight, hotel and 1’150 euro buy-in. All 9 members of the final table of this First Night of Mendrisio also got a €550 ticket each for the €300,000 guaranteed Night of Aces that will be played right at the Casino of Mendrisio from September 8 to 21. In all, 27 players went for prizes and among them there were some prominent names in Poker in these latitudes, such as Rento Hysenbelli, Agazio Gerace and Predrag Budakovic.
This May 1 event, however, was just the beginning of a new cycle of tournaments that will accompany players at the Admiral Poker Room every Monday and Thursday night with the €5,000 guaranteed La Notte di Mendrisio tournaments. In each of these there will also be 2 tickets up for grabs for La Notte degli Assi and will be played from May through September.
