Lamanna is Mendrisio’s new “ace”

Pierpaolo Lamanna is the winner of La Notte degli Assi 250’000€ GTD, the tournament with the highest prize pool ever staked on Swiss soil. This is an Italian player who last July won over $200,000 at the World Series of Poker Main Event, placing 40th, and today ousted from the podium players such as Antonio Bernaudo, Mario Perati and Raffaele Castro. Pierpaolo, the best of 359 players, thus won a €45,000 first coin and the prestigious and coveted white gold bracelet.

The Final Day had seen several players contending for chipleading such as Roberto Tasca who “settled” for a €27,000 second place and Giorgio Leuchi who instead with some unlucky shots placed 22nd for €2,300.

Before the final table also left the Poker Room with just over 2’000€ Charles Calfelis, Matteo Garofali and Paolo Alberto Tripodi, who qualified for Day2B playing with the ticket won at the January 23 satellite.

It has been an intense 2 weeks at the Mendrisio Casino, which now constitutes a prestigious international location in poker. In all, more than 1,000 players registered between Main Event, Side and Satellites during these two weeks of events in the Sottocenerina gambling house.
